Oleksiy Shevchenko

Oleksiy was born on March 22, 1988, in the town of Velyka Mykhailivka, Odesa Oblast. From childhood, he was an open, sincere, and curious boy. He was passionate about sports, playing volleyball and later engaging in strength sports. After finishing school, he enrolled in the Odesa Railway Transport Technical School, specializing in "Maintenance of Rolling Stock and Special Equipment."

In 2009, Oleksiy joined the railway family, becoming an electrical installer for the contact network at the Veselyi Kut station. In 2015, due to his diligence and hard work, he was promoted to the position of electromechanic for the contact network in the first group section.

Shevchenko Oleksiy Oleksiyovych worked as an electromechanic for the contact network in the first group section of the "Podilsk Electric Supply Distance" production unit of the Odesa Railway regional branch. He dedicated 11 years of his life to the railway.

He died on March 9, 2022, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a missile strike on a military unit in Mykolaiv.

Colleagues always remember him as a passionate, disciplined, and responsible worker with a great sense of humor. “Oleksiy managed to complete his tasks and, when needed, come to help his colleagues,” recalls his mentor Yuriy Tustanovskyi. “He quickly earned respect not only among his peers but also from older, more experienced workers.”

He dreamed of marrying his beloved girlfriend, but the war shattered his plans and happy future.

In 2020, Oleksiy took up the defense of Ukraine by signing a three-year contract with the Armed Forces, where he diligently and honestly fulfilled his duties. He gave his life defending Ukrainian land from the enemy, demonstrating courage, dedication to his homeland, and true love for his people. His heart stopped in the fight for peace and freedom for each of us.

We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. His parents are left without their beloved son.

His youth and dreams were cut short by an enemy missile in Mykolaiv. We appreciate his dedication to the railway profession and honor the courage he displayed on the battlefield.
