Oleksiy Shvets
Oleksiy was born on March 19, 1977, in the city of Merefa, Kharkiv region. He dedicated his life to the railway, starting his career as a trackman in 2005 at the Kharkiv track division. He devoted 20 years of his life to the railway.
Colleagues remember Oleksiy for his excellent professional skills, especially in construction work, and his willingness to take on any task. In the early days of the full-scale war, he was restoring tracks after explosions in hazardous areas. Track master Oleksandr Oleksandrovich recalls him as a reliable worker and a loving husband and father.
In September 2024, Oleksiy made the decision to defend his homeland, but unfortunately, his brave heart was quickly stopped by enemy bullets.
Oleksiy Yevhenovych Shvets, a trackman, was killed on November 17, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Olhivka in the Kursk region, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He was 47 years old. Oleksiy is survived by his wife Svitlana and daughter Yuliya.
The team at the Kharkiv track division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns with indescribable pain and deep respect alongside Oleksiy's family. Our colleague, who was a model of courage even in peacetime, working in dangerous areas, heroically fell while defending his homeland. His responsibility, love for Ukraine, and sacred sacrifice will forever serve as an example for all of us. Eternal memory and honor to our Hero!
