Petro Chekhovych
Petro was born in the city of Fastiv, near Kyiv. Before the war, he worked for 14.5 years on the railway at the Fastiv-1 motor car depot. He was a fourth-category locksmith for measuring instruments and automation.
On February 27, 2022, Petro took up arms to defend his homeland.
38-year-old soldier Petro Chekhovych was killed on March 11, 2022, in the Bucha district of Kyiv region.
To his colleagues and friends, Petro was remembered as friendly and communicative. He was respected and valued as a skilled professional worker and a strong-willed person who did not shy away from difficulties and did not bow his head in the face of adversity. He was brave, courageous, and determined, and from the very first days of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, he stood up to defend his homeland. Petro believed that he would fulfill his civic duty and that Ukraine would be a strong and free state.
Petro is survived by his wife Oksana and daughter Oleksandra.
The team at the Fastiv-1 motor car depot of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows its head in honor of the courage and sacrifice of Petro Chekhovych. He was a dedicated worker who resolutely took up the defense of his native Kyiv region from the first days of the war, giving his life for a free Ukraine. We express our deepest condolences to his wife and daughter. His strength of spirit and faith in victory will be an eternal example.
