21-year-old Roman Holubenko was killed on April 14, 2022, in the Kharkiv region. He was just two weeks shy of his birthday.
Roman's colleague, Yulia Siharyova, recalls: “Roman was a handsome, pleasant, and very sociable young man. He quickly got along with his colleagues... He was initially called up for mandatory service, and after its completion, he returned to work in the distance, but soon decided to go back to military service under contract. This was at the beginning of February 2022. And in April, Roman was killed. The entire village attended his funeral—young and old alike, bringing flowers and crying. It was clear that people held him in high regard.”
The young man was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage III degree.
Roman is survived by his parents and a younger sister.
The team of the Lower Dnipro Supply Distance of the regional branch "Pridniprovsk Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the loss of their young colleague, Roman Holubenko. His life was heroically cut short in the Kharkiv region, just before his 22nd birthday. Glory to the Hero, posthumously awarded the Order of Courage!
