Roman KOSTENKO
Roman was born and lived with his family in the village of Balakleya, Cherkasy region. In 2016, he graduated from the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport. During the full-scale aggression, he returned from abroad (from Poland) to work again in the railway sector. In January 2023, he was appointed as the duty officer at the Taras Shevchenko station.
In the team, Roman established himself as a responsible, disciplined, and technically proficient specialist, demanding of himself and his colleagues. He is described as an open, honest person with a great sense of humor.
On January 27, 2023, Roman was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served in the 46th Brigade.
Soldier Roman Vasylovych Kostenko was killed on August 12, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Robotyne in the Polohy district of the Zaporizhzhia region.
The team at the Taras Shevchenko station of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses deep sorrow for the fallen colleague Roman Kostenko. His honesty, openness, sense of humor, and heroic deed will forever remain in our memory. Eternal memory to the Hero!
