Ruslan Yankovchuk
Ruslan was born on May 3, 1975, in the city of Koziatyn. He was a person of a bright soul and extraordinary diligence. He dedicated 26 years of his life to the railway: since May 1999, he had been working in the Koziatyn unit of the militarized security service. Colleagues remember him as a reliable, responsible, and balanced individual.
He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on June 26, 2024. He served in the fire support company. He was calm, thoughtful, and extremely meticulous. Even in the hell of war, he brought order to the unit's daily life, cared for his comrades, and organized joint efforts.
Ruslan never told his family about the horrors of war, assuring them that "everything is fine." Only to his closest friends did he confess that it was true hell around him.
Ruslan loved the land above all else—this passion was passed down to him from his great-grandfather. He tended to his garden, grew vegetables, and rejoiced in every fruit of his labor. His other great passion was photography; the family archive will forever hold photos of happy moments captured by his hand. He was extraordinarily caring, never returning home without a "treat" for his loved ones.
Ruslan Mykolaiovych Yankovchuk, a shooter in the militarized security service, was killed on November 26, 2024, defending Ukraine in one of the most challenging directions. His life was cut short during the repulsion of enemy assault actions near the settlement of Pushkine in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.
For an entire year, Ruslan was considered missing in action. Only in December 2025, through DNA testing, did his parents' hope finally fade, and the Hero returned home "on his shield."
Ruslan is survived by his parents—Mykola and Alla.
The team of the Koziatyn unit of the militarized security service of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in profound sorrow and deep respect for Ruslan Yankovchuk. His kindness, responsibility, and great sacrifice will forever remain in our hearts. Eternal memory and honor to our Hero!
