Serhiy BONDAR
Serhiy was born in the village of Velyka Dymerka in Kyiv Oblast. In 2005, he joined the railway as an assistant locomotive driver at the Darnytsia locomotive depot. Colleagues remember him as a passionate, disciplined, and responsible worker with a great sense of humor.
He began his military journey with compulsory service from 2000 to 2002. In 2015-2016, he was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and took part in the ATO as a mechanic-driver of an armored personnel carrier in Donetsk. In February-March 2020, Sergiy underwent reserve training. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, on February 25, 2022, he was called up to the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhians. He defended Kyiv Oblast (Moshchun, Bucha, Irpin) and then moved to Donetsk. In August 2022, near Bakhmut, he sustained a combat injury, and in February 2023, in the area of Vuhledar, he was injured again. Each time, despite deteriorating health, Serhiy returned to his comrades.
Bondar Serhiy Dmytrovych, a true Hero, gave the most precious thing—his life—for the peace and freedom of our country. He died as a result of enemy shelling from tanks, multiple rocket launchers, artillery, and mortars near the settlement of Vuhledar, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, sustaining injuries incompatible with life.
He was awarded the "Guard" badge in 2015, and by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated April 25, 2024, he was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
All his life, all his achievements and goals were connected to his son. He was the best dad, an example of a true brave man, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Serhiy is survived by his parents, wife, and son.
The team of the production unit of the Darnytsia locomotive depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the irreparable loss of Serhiy Bondar. Eternal memory and honor to our Hero!
