Serhiy Minchenko

Serhiy was born in the village of Nasosna in the Baku region (Azerbaijan). He worked on the railway for over 24 years, including at the Central Asian Railway, as well as a repair mechanic for rolling stock at the Grebinka Locomotive Depot.

Colleagues remember him as a very kind, balanced, and calm person who was always ready to help. He was a well-rounded individual, knowledgeable about the technological processes of repairing diesel engines and locomotives, and he enjoyed fishing and reading books. After the war, Serhiy planned to return to his team.

Serhiy decided to defend his homeland on September 13, 2022.

Serhiy died a hero's death on June 5, 2023, defending the freedom and independence of Ukraine in the Donetsk region near the settlement of Sakko and Vantsetti during a mortar shelling.

Serhiy is survived by his wife and son.

The team at the Grebinka Locomotive Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" shares the pain of the irreparable loss of Serhiy. His courage and dedication to his homeland will forever remain in our memory. Eternal glory!
