He dedicated 17 years of his life to the railway.
Sergeant Serhiy was killed on April 17, 2022, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during direct combat operations near the settlement of Avdiivka, sustaining explosive injuries.
Colleagues remember him as a decent, disciplined, responsible, and hardworking employee, someone who could be approached for advice and was always ready to help. Colleague Andrii Metelyskyi recalls: "Serhiy was a wonderful, kind person; he was still working on the shift on February 24, 2022."
On the second day of the full-scale invasion, February 25, 2022, Serhiy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a senior gunner in the third grenade launcher squad of the anti-tank platoon of the second mechanized battalion of the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after Mark Bezruchko.
Serhiy is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
The team of the administrative and economic service of the Southern Railway honors the memory of the Sergeant. This responsible worker strengthened the infrastructure for nearly two decades and, at the onset of aggression, immediately stood up to defend the state. His courage in Donetsk and dedication to his duty will serve as an eternal example. We sincerely share in the grief of the family that has lost a father and husband. Eternal glory.
