Valentyn TARAN

Valentin was born in the village of Vysoke in the Sumy region and lived in the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk. He worked at Ukrzaliznytsia as a 5th category battery technician at the Donetsk main material and technical warehouse.

Colleagues remember Valentin as a kind and principled person who performed his work with quality and earned respect within the team. He was a highly skilled and diligent worker who shared his experience with the youth. His special passion was artistic carving of incredibly beautiful figures from old car tires to decorate his yard.

Valentin began his military service under contract on October 12, 2017. He was awarded the title of "Participant of the ATO" and received the Order of "For the Defense of the City of Bakhmut."

47-year-old Chief Sergeant Valentin Taran was killed on August 29, 2023, near the village of Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.

Valentin's wife said, "My husband was caring and loving. His death is a tremendous pain and loss for our entire family."

Valentin is survived by his wife and daughter.
