Viktor CHEREDNYK
Viktor Cherednyk was born in the village of Kurylivka in the Kharkiv region. He worked on the railway, starting as a laborer in the Kupiansk electrical supply distance of the Southern Railway. From there, he went to serve in the army, participating in combat operations in Afghanistan. In 1996, he graduated from the Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy through distance learning, earning a qualification as an electrical engineer. He returned to the railway in 2007, working as an economist for contractual and claims work at the Kupiansk Construction and Installation Operational Management No. 4. Later, he served as a foreman for construction and installation work and as a first-category safety engineer at the Kharkiv Directorate of the "Center for Construction and Installation Works and Building Operation."
Colleagues knew Viktor Oleksandrovych as a professional; he initiated the legal process to recover debts owed to the company by customers for water and sewage services. He never refused to provide legal assistance to workers and was always calm, composed, and attentive.
58-year-old Viktor Cherednyk was killed on August 23, 2024, in his hometown of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. That day, he was riding his bicycle home from the market and stopped to greet his friend and neighbor, Serhiy Harbuzov, also a railway worker. At that moment, both men came under enemy fire. Viktor and Serhiy lived next door to each other, and before the war, they would walk home from work together and go to football matches. During the war, they helped local residents repair their homes, and they died together...
Viktor was an unwavering support for his family, deeply caring for his loved ones. He dreamed of higher education and a home for his daughter, and he was overjoyed when those dreams came true.
Viktor is survived by his wife, daughter, and elderly parents.
The team at the Kharkiv Directorate of the "Center for Construction and Installation Works and Building Operation" deeply mourns this irreparable loss and extends heartfelt condolences to Viktor Cherednyk's family and loved ones. Our colleague became an innocent victim of Russian aggression, and we will forever cherish the memory of his wisdom and professionalism. Eternal memory and honor!
