Viktor CHERNYUK
Viktor was born in the city of Koziatyn in the Vinnytsia region into a family of railway workers. At School No. 5, where he studied, he is remembered as a reliable friend and a person one could count on. After school, Viktor enrolled in the Koziatyn Railway Vocational School, specializing as a "mechanic for the repair of rolling stock." He joined the railway in 2008, working at the Koziatyn locomotive depot of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" as a 5th grade mechanic for rolling stock repair.
In 2013, he married his beloved Tetiana. Viktor loved children dearly and accepted his wife's son as his own. In 2014, their daughter Viktoriia was born.
On February 27, 2022, Viktor was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a shooter and assistant grenade launcher in the 1st platoon of the security company. For his personal courage and selfless actions in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as his loyalty to the military oath, Viktor was posthumously awarded the state honor "Defender of the Fatherland."
35-year-old soldier Viktor Cherniuk was killed on March 6, 2022, as a result of an enemy airstrike on the "Vinnytsia" airport.
His loved ones recall that Viktor was a wonderful family man and held great respect among his colleagues.
The team at the Koziatyn locomotive depot of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses deep condolences to his family and friends. We have lost not just a colleague, but a true son of our land, who died defending Vinnytsia. His memory as a dedicated worker and brave defender will forever remain in the history of the depot. Heroes do not die!
