Viktor DEKHTYARENKO
Viktor was born in the village of Hora, Poltava district, Poltava region. In January 2023, he began his work on the railway as a mechanic for the repair of track machines and mechanisms of the 4th category at the production structural unit "Poltava Center for Mechanization of Track Works," a branch of the "Center for Repair and Operation of Track Machines."
Viktor was mobilized on February 28, 2023.
He died on August 17, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the vicinity of the settlement of Andriivka in the Luhansk region, during the provision of national security and defense, repelling and deterring armed aggression against Ukraine during martial law. Prior to this, Viktor Ilyich had been considered missing for a long time; his family waited and hoped to see him alive, but DNA testing confirmed his death.
In the short time he worked with the team, colleagues remember Viktor as a disciplined and responsible worker, always quick to help in any endeavor. He loved fishing and knew many intricacies of the craft.
Viktor is survived by his mother and two sons, the elder of whom is serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The team at the Poltava Center for Mechanization of Track Works deeply mourns this irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to Viktor's family and loved ones. We will forever cherish the bright memory of our brave colleague and hero. Eternal memory and honor!
