Volodymyr Halahan
Volodymyr was born in the city of Verkhovtseve, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Simferopol Railway Transport Technical School, earning a qualification as a track technician.
Professional path in the railway: He worked for over 20 years at "Ukrzaliznytsia." He began his career in September 2000 as a track layer in the Verkhovtseve track maintenance unit. Later, he became a foreman (dismissed) in current maintenance and repair of tracks and artificial structures.
Military path: In March 2021, Volodymyr enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract. His wife, Oksana, recounts that he volunteered to defend Ukraine and his family.
Personal qualities: Volodymyr was cheerful, full of life, loved people and communicating with them. He was very calm by nature and always ready to help. He loved his job. In peaceful life, he wrote poetry, raised pigeons, and dreamed of building a new pigeon house for them. He enjoyed mushroom picking, gardening, and viticulture.
Volodymyr had four daughters and one granddaughter. He received the call sign "Jeweler" at the front. He dreamed of his children being healthy, well-provided for, and receiving a good education.
42-year-old soldier Volodymyr Halahan was killed on March 25, 2022, near Marinka in the Donetsk region.
He was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.
Volodymyr is survived by his wife Oksana, daughters Maryna, Yelyzaveta, Viktoriia, Karina, and his mother Nina Volodymyrivna.
The team of the Verkhovtseve track maintenance unit of the regional branch "Dniprovsk Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the loss of their colleague, Volodymyr Halahan. We remember his zest for life, his dream of a pigeon house, and his voluntary decision to defend the country. His sacrifice in Donetsk, honored by the Order of "For Courage," is an everlasting pride. Glory to the Hero!
