Volodymyr ROY
For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in defense of the state sovereignty, Volodymyr Roy was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree (Decree of the President of Ukraine dated April 3, 2024).
From childhood, Volodymyr dreamed of working on the railway. After graduating from the Zdolbuniv Vocational School, he dedicated 6 years and 4 months of his life to the enterprise, holding various positions: from a repairman of rolling stock at the Shepetivka depot to an assistant driver of a diesel train in Ternopil and a track installer in Koziatyn. Since March 2023, he had been working as an assistant driver of an electric locomotive at the Shepetivka locomotive depot. Colleagues remember him as a highly qualified, technically savvy, and responsible worker who was respected and loved to joke.
In May 2023, Volodymyr was mobilized. He completed "Basic General Military Training" as part of Operation INTERFLEX in the United Kingdom, after which he was immediately sent to the east, where he bravely defended our country.
Soldier Volodymyr Ihorovych Roy, a gunner of the airborne battalion, died on September 6, 2023, from injuries sustained while performing a combat mission in the vicinity of the village of Bilohorivka in the Sievierodonetsk district of Luhansk region.
His family and friends remember him as a kind, sincere, open young man with a charming childhood smile. His witty jokes and willingness to help will forever remain in their memories.
The Hero is survived by his parents and an older brother.
