Vyacheslav Shchesiuk

Vyacheslav was born in the village of Brukhovychi in the Volyn region. Before military service, he worked as a trackman in the Kivertsi railway division. He was valued at work for his responsible attitude, organizational skills, active participation in sports competitions, and his ability to make witty jokes.

Vyacheslav enlisted in the military under contract at the end of 2021. He served in the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade, 2nd Self-Propelled Artillery Battery. Together with his comrades, he successfully carried out combat missions, holding back the enemy's advance in the Kharkiv direction.

23-year-old soldier Vyacheslav Shchesiuk was killed on July 27, 2023, as a result of a massive enemy shelling while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Masyutivka in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region.

His wife Kateryna, who initiated a petition for him to be posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, stated: “We hope that not only we will remember Vyacheslav as a Hero of Ukraine, but that everyone will know the price of our freedom.”

Vyacheslav is survived by his wife Kateryna and two young children: 4-year-old son Ivan and 2-year-old daughter Veronika.
