Yevhen SLIPCHENKO
Yevhen was born in the city of Polohy in the Zaporizhzhia region. He graduated from the Melitopol Professional Railway Transport College. In November 2018, he began working at the railway in the Polohy locomotive depot as a repairman for rolling stock. Later, he became an assistant locomotive driver at the same depot.
On February 28, 2022, Yevhen took up arms to defend his homeland.
36-year-old Yevhen Slipchenko was killed on April 17, 2022, during combat near the village of Vyshneve in the Zaporizhzhia region.
His sister Iryna recalls: “Yevhen was a very determined person, focused on results; a truth-seeker who never lied himself and expected the same from others. He loved to take care of the home and household, working with machinery—cars or motorcycles. Zhenya knew how to organize people and willingly helped others; he was a true craftsman. He enjoyed fishing, which he adored. He loved his job on the railway, and the schedule and constant movement suited him well... A week before the war began, Yevhen married the girl he had been living with in a civil marriage for some time. They decided to officially become husband and wife, and then this tragedy struck.”
The team at the Polohy locomotive depot of the regional branch “Dniprovsk Railway” of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” deeply mourns the loss of their colleague, Yevhen Slipchenko. He was a determined assistant locomotive driver, a skilled craftsman, and a truth-seeker who took up arms to defend his country on the third day of the full-scale war, immediately after his official marriage. His life was heroically cut short in his native Zaporizhzhia. Eternal memory to the defender!
