Yuriy ANTONENKO
The Antonenko family were displaced persons from the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. They were forced to leave their home and began building a new life in Odesa, where they rented accommodation, worked, and raised their daughter. In 2022, their retired parents also moved to Odesa, having lost their homes.
Yuriy was born in the village of Dovhenke in the Izium district of the Kharkiv region and graduated from the Poltava Military Institute of Communications. Since November 2015, he had been working on the railway as a master of the automotive transport section of the 1st group at the Odesa branch of the "Center for Transport Service 'Lisky'."
Forty-four-year-old railway worker Yuriy Antonenko and his wife Yuliya tragically lost their lives on June 9, 2023, in Odesa due to falling debris from drones (or a missile) during an enemy shelling.
Colleagues remember Yuriy as a compassionate and decent, diligent, responsible, and qualified worker who was respected and held in high regard by his peers.
Yuriy and Yuliya are survived by their daughter Myroslava and Yuriy's parents.
The team at the Odesa branch of the "CTS 'Lisky'" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bids farewell to Yuriy Antonenko and his wife Yuliya with indescribable grief. A diligent worker and a good family man lost his life due to a war he tried to leave behind. Eternal memory to the innocent victims!
