Yuriy KHOMUTOV
Yuriy Khomutov was born and lived in the city of Krasny Liman in the Donetsk region. He graduated from the Sloviansk Technical School of Railway Transport with a degree in "Energy Supply and Energy Management." He worked in the Liman Electric Supply Distance of the regional branch of "Donetsk Railway." He dedicated 42 years to his work on the railway.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, from February to May 2022, Yuriy voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, holding the military rank of soldier.
62-year-old Yuriy Khomutov died on February 28, 2025, in the city of Liman as a result of an enemy drone strike while riding his bicycle on the street.
Acquaintances say that Yuriy was a person who loved his job and his team, always diligently fulfilling his duties. He was a qualified specialist who willingly shared his experience with younger colleagues and never refused to help. He was respected and held in high regard within the team. A jack of all trades, he enjoyed working with wood in his free time. In Yuriy's hands, shelves, chairs, doors, windows, and many other items came to life with ease. For pleasure, he planted fruit trees and grapes, but he loved roses the most. He also had a deep affection for dogs and cared for them, and in return, they gave him their love and loyalty. "When war came to our country, Yuriy Oleksiyovych did not hesitate and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He always said, 'Who, if not me? I am needed there more right now.' He was a true patriot of Ukraine. Friends and colleagues knew Yuriy Oleksiyovych as a true professional, a talented and exceptionally hardworking person. He will always remain in our hearts and memories," his colleagues expressed.
Yuriy is survived by adult children: a son, who is also defending the country, and a daughter. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
The team at the Liman Electric Supply Distance of the regional branch of "Donetsk Railway" deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague.
