Yuriy Mykolayovych Lukashov, a highly skilled electric welder and dedicated communications mechanic, gave his life for the freedom of Ukraine. His heart stopped on October 23, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the city of Selidove in the Donetsk region. For a long fifteen months, Yuriy was considered missing in action, and only at the beginning of 2026 did the family receive official confirmation of the worst news. The hero will forever remain 49 years old.

Yuriy was born on October 5, 1975, in the city of Trostyanets. He firmly tied his fate to his homeland and a profession that required "iron" endurance and precision.

Yuriy joined the railway in May 2011, choosing the profession of manual electric welder. For 13 years, he worked at the wagon maintenance point of the Trostyanets-Smorodine station.

Professionalism: With a high 5th grade qualification, he was a master for whom no task was too complex.

Colleagues remember Yuriy as an open and sincere person. He was the "center of calm" to whom everyone turned for support. He was respected for his ability to bring any task to a perfect conclusion.

On June 10, 2024, Yuriy Mykolayovych exchanged his peaceful profession for a military uniform.

He became a mechanic for the radio relay station as part of the 152nd Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Symon Petliura.

In the Pokrovsk direction—one of the hottest points on the front—Yuriy ensured uninterrupted communication. This was critically important work, upon which the coordination of units and the lives of hundreds of comrades depended.

On October 23, 2024, communication with him was lost. For a year and three months, his mother, daughter, and brother lived in hope and despair, praying for a miracle. Unfortunately, the confirmation of his death became the final point in this heroic story.

Yuriy was a man with a big heart, for whom family was the greatest value. His courage and resilience became the shield he held over his loved ones and all of Ukraine.

Yuriy Mykolayovych is survived by his mother, brother, and daughter.

The team of the "Station Operations Service" of the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses deep condolences to the family. Yuriy Lukashov will forever remain in our memory as an example of integrity, professionalism, and indomitable spirit. His feat will not be forgotten.

Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
