Yuriy Yakymenko
Yuriy was born in the village of Isayky, Kyiv region. He graduated from Obukhiv Medical College. In 2021, he joined the "Kozatyn Detachment of the Militarized Guard," working as a 4th class shooter in the Mironivka militarized guard team. His work experience on the railway was only 1 year.
He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) as a combat medic. On the second day of the full-scale invasion, February 25, 2022, Yuriy rejoined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served as a combat medic and was involved in the evacuation of wounded soldiers from the battlefield. Colleagues remember him as a kind and reliable friend who shared his knowledge of first aid, asserting that it is important not only in wartime.
Yuriy Yakymenko was killed on May 30, 2022, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a combat mission in the Luhansk region.
Yuriy is survived by his wife and daughter.
The team of the Kozatyn Detachment of the Militarized Guard of the "Departmental Militarized Guard" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns this irreparable loss. This railway shooter, who was a combat medic by profession, immediately went to save the lives of his comrades at the front after the full-scale invasion. His reliability, willingness to help, and heroic death are a testament to his service to Ukraine. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero!
