It was Independence Day, which most Ukrainians spent this year with their families at home. Serhii, who works as a train assembler at the Nyzhnodniprovsk-Vuzol station, in a nightmare could not imagine that he would have to pull his wife and two sons out from under the rubble of his own house. That day, the Russian enemy fired several missiles at Dnipropetrovsk region. And the first one hit their private house in the Chaplyne village. The man managed to get wife and elder son, Bohdan, out of the rubble. But the younger son, Vladyslav, who was only 11 years old, could not be saved. His body was pulled out by rescuers.
Both, railway worker Serhii and his wife, suffered concussion and serious post-traumatic shock as a result of that rocket attack. The eldest son, Bohdan, 13 years old, is currently in the regional children's hospital, in very serious condition. The treatment is expensive; the family is unable to pay for it. And they all actually have nowhere to return to, because in this war the family lost their home, the house, which was destroyed by Russian occupants on the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
