Ihor Shuldyk
Ihor was born in the village of Mala Borovitsia in the Bilohirsk district of the Khmelnytskyi region. He lived in the city of Zaporizhzhia. He graduated from the Chubaryvsk Professional Agricultural Lyceum, where he trained as a beekeeper and driver.
Since 2006, Ihor worked at the Zaporizhzhia Electric Locomotive Repair Plant, where he was a locksmith repairing rolling stock in the carriage shop.
During his military service, Ihor was part of a peacekeeping contingent in Germany. After completing his service, he served under contract in the city of Starokostiantyniv in the Khmelnytskyi region.
On February 26, 2022, Ihor went to the military enlistment office, but was initially turned away. On March 2, he made another attempt and was sent to a military unit. Later, as part of the 23rd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Khortytsia," he reinforced the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. He served as a rifleman-sanitizer in the 3rd motorized infantry squad of the 2nd motorized infantry platoon of the 3rd motorized infantry company.
Ihor was honest, truthful, demanding of himself and others, yet friendly, compassionate, kind, communicative, and had a good sense of humor. Family was his top priority. He enjoyed fishing, playing checkers, and loved spending time in the forest. He had many plans for the future. Colleagues knew Ihor Volodymyrovych as a responsible person who never refused additional tasks and was always ready to help others.
49-year-old Junior Sergeant Ihor Shuldyk was killed on March 12, 2022, while defending the village of Nikolske in the Donetsk region. He was considered missing for a long time. After a year and 10 months of extensive searches and 2 DNA tests, the Hero's body was finally brought home. Ihor Shuldyk was buried on March 7, 2024.
Ihor is survived by his wife, mother, sister, and nephew.
