Сумська дирекція залізничних перевезень
28.12.1990 – 11.03.2022

Oleksandr was a native of Trostianets. Before the full-scale war, he worked as an engineer at the mobile restoration train of the "Sumy Directorate of Railway Transport." In his spare time, he was interested in numismatics and collected coins, as well as unusual lighters and matches. Sasha was passionate about cars and motorcycles; his wife says he was a true "Schumacher."

After February 24, Oleksandr helped the residents of the Trostianets community in any way he could. He delivered food and supplies for children to a neighboring village. Once, he helped transport a paralyzed man. Later, he joined the partisans of the self-organized territorial defense of Trostianets. He managed to obtain a machine gun, a bulletproof vest, and a grenade on his own. Sasha patrolled the area where his home was located and provided information to the Ukrainian Armed Forces about the movements of the Russians. On March 11, 2022, along with other men, he liberated a house in the city that had been seized by Russian troops. That same day, near the street where Oleksandr lived, he was shot by a Russian sniper.

31-year-old Oleksandr Spasyonov was killed on March 11, 2022, in Trostianets, Sumy region.

His wife, Valeria Spasyonova, recalls: "My Sasha, without exaggeration, was a true man with a big kind heart, with whom it was not scary even in such terrible times as war. He cared for everyone." She added that despite pleas, he refused to leave through the "green corridor," saying he was "not a coward and would not abandon the city."

On March 12, Valeria, along with their son and Oleksandr's younger brother, fulfilled his last request – they left through the "green corridor" to a safe place. Oleksandr's body was handed over to his mother only on March 13.

Oleksandr Spasyonov is survived by his wife Valeria, son, parents, grandmother, and younger brother.

The team of the restoration train Trostianets-Smorodine deeply mourns the irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.

The restoration train Trostianets-Smorodine of the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bids farewell with deep sorrow to patriot Oleksandr Spasyonov. His dedication to Trostianets, where he heroically defended the community and fell to the hands of a sniper, is a symbol of resilience. We will always remember his bravery, big kind heart, and selflessness. Eternal memory to a true son of Ukraine!
