Zelman Oleksandr
Oleksandr was born on April 18, 1977, in the village of Velykyi Lystven in the Chernihiv region. He grew up in a large and friendly family, where from a young age he cherished the values of mutual assistance and hard work. He chose his professional path after studying at the Shchorsky Vocational School, obtaining the qualification of an electric gas welder.
For over 22 years, Oleksandr Mykolaiovych dedicated himself to the railway. Since 2003, he worked at the Wagon Division of Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi Station (PTO Chernihiv), where he later became a master of the highest, 6th category. His colleagues knew him as an exceptionally hardworking, sincere, and kind person. He was the reliable friend whose professional advice and strong support one could always count on.
His patriotism was evident not in words, but in actions. On the second day of the full-scale invasion, February 25, 2022, Oleksandr voluntarily joined the territorial defense of his native Chernihiv. Later, in October 2022, he enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Serving as a grenade launcher in the infantry unit, Oleksandr bravely defended the sovereignty of our state in the most challenging areas of the front.
On October 7, 2024, during a combat mission in the Luhansk direction, communication with the soldier was lost due to enemy artillery fire. For a long time, Oleksandr was considered missing in action, and only in early 2026, through identification, the most painful truth was confirmed—he had fallen in that battle, defending his homeland until his last breath.
He was a caring son and a loving father, for whom the freedom of Ukraine was more important than his own life. Oleksandr gave his all, leaving behind a bright memory, boundless gratitude from the people, and an indescribable pain in the hearts of those who loved him.
The team of the production unit "Wagon Division of Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi Station" of the "Passenger Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and the entire railway family express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Oleksandr Zelman. We bow our heads in honor of our colleague-hero's feat. Eternal memory and glory to the defender of Ukraine!
