Mykola Bevziuk
Mykola was born in the village of Seredniy Maidan in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. He obtained an education as a locomotive assistant at the Chernivtsi Lyceum and the Lviv College. He worked as a mechanic repairing rolling stock at the Kolomyia motor car depot. Colleagues remember him as a diligent and responsible worker, despite his young age.
In 2021, Mykola signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the war, he became a gunner in the 1st platoon of the tank battalion of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade.
The 21-year-old railwayman Mykola Bevziuk was killed on September 30, 2022, in a fierce battle near the settlement of Bruskyne in the Berislav district of the Kherson region. His combat vehicle was precisely hit by an enemy shell during a counteroffensive. A month before his death, he got married.
Posthumously, Mykola was awarded the Order of “For Courage” III degree. A memorial plaque was unveiled in his native village in his honor.
Mykola is survived by his father, mother, younger sister, and wife.
The team at the Kolomyia Motor Car Depot of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” honors the memory of their young colleague with deep respect and unspeakable sorrow. The mechanic, who was responsible and diligent at work, fell as a tank gunner in Kherson, driving out the occupiers. His heroism, recognized with the Order of “For Courage,” and his tragic fate—dying a month after his wedding—symbolize the highest price Ukraine pays for freedom. Eternal memory!
