Mykola TURCHYNIAK
Mykola was born in the village of Zaryechye, Nadvirna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. In December 1997, he began working on the railway. He worked in the Engineering Structures Maintenance Workshop (workshop No. 18) at the Halahanivka station as a fourth-grade repairman of artificial structures in the production unit of the Railway Service "Kherson Railway Distance" of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," to which he dedicated 27 years of his working life.
Mykola volunteered to defend Ukraine during the invasion in 2022; he was a brave warrior, a strong, courageous, and determined person! With honor and dignity, he defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our State alongside his comrades. He took direct part in combat operations necessary for ensuring Ukraine's defense. He was constantly in combat zones: the village of Vozdvizhivka in the Zaporizhzhia region and the city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region.
Unfortunately, Mykola was killed on September 8, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission due to shelling. He sustained multiple injuries, including a blast injury incompatible with life, in the village of Kalynivka in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region.
For his bravery and courage, he was awarded the badge "Courage Unites Generations," posthumously the Order "Hero's Cross," and held a certificate of a combat veteran.
We are proud of our Hero, his resilience and heroism, and believe he deserves the highest honor and gratitude from the people. He gave the most valuable thing—his life—for us, for a free and independent Ukraine.
The family lost the best, loving husband and father.
The team of the Kherson Railway Distance is deeply saddened and expresses sincere condolences to the family and loved ones regarding this irreparable loss. May the memory of our brave colleague-Hero, who gave his life for Ukraine, be eternal. Eternal glory and honor!
