Roman Bobyk
Roman worked as a track installer in the Uzhhorod railway division. His professional journey on the "military tracks" began in 2019 when he enlisted for contract service, inspired by his sister's example (his brother also served in the Armed Forces).
With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Roman continued his contract service. He served as a mechanic-driver in the platoon of the 3rd Mountain Assault Company of the 128th Brigade.
30-year-old Roman Bobyk was killed on October 15, 2022, in a fierce battle against the occupiers for Nova Kamianka in the Kherson region. He died while covering his comrades with his BMP.
Colleagues remember Roman as a calm, balanced man, always ready to help. Comrades recounted that he was a reliable friend and faithful to his oath until his last breath. His mother, Svitlana Vakhtangivna, recalls with pain: "When my son died, all that was left of him was an old phone and his loyal friend – the dog Rex. There were no documents, no uniform; everything burned along with the vehicle."
Roman is survived by his parents, sister, and brother.
The team at the Uzhhorod railway division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors their colleague with indescribable pride and deep sorrow. Our track installer, calm and balanced in civilian life, became a volunteer contractor following the example of his sister and brother. His selfless act and loyalty until his last breath serve as our eternal beacon of courage. Heroes do not die; they live on in our hearts.
