Sergiy Romanchенко

Romanchenko Serhiy Yakovych was born in the town of Rakhiv, Zakarpattia region. After finishing secondary school, he was enrolled in a vocational school as a lathe operator. Since 2006, he decided to work on the railway as a lathe operator in the production unit "Locomotive Depot Osnova" of the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." He dedicated 19 years to the railway.

According to colleagues' memories, he was a very kind person, always ready to help. He had a balanced and calm character. He consistently fulfilled the tasks assigned by his supervisor and was knowledgeable about technological processes. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom picking. He was a well-rounded individual. After the war, he planned to return to the team for further work.

Serhiy took up arms to defend his homeland on June 26, 2024, but less than a year later, he fell in battle on May 6, 2025, defending the freedom and independence of Ukraine in the fighting in Kharkiv region.

We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Serhiy is survived by his wife and daughter.
