Sergii SMILYANETS

Serhii was born in the city of Koziatyn in the Vinnytsia region. In 1999, he joined the railway family as a 4th class electrical fitter of the contact network at the "Koziatyn Electric Supply Division" of the regional branch "South-Western Railway." He dedicated 25 years to the railway.

Colleagues remember him as an exemplary, disciplined, and responsible worker. "Serhiy was brave and had a keen sense of justice," recalls his mentor Valeriy Havryliuk.

Serhii loved to read a lot and play musical instruments.

On the third day of the full-scale invasion, February 26, 2022, Serhiy enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a sapper, commanding a sapper platoon, where he was a model of courage and dedication for his comrades. He valiantly defended his homeland and gave a worthy resistance to the occupiers.

Serhii was killed on December 7, 2024, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

For his personal bravery and selfless actions in defense of the state sovereignty, he was awarded the Presidential Award of Ukraine "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation," the medal "To the Unbreakable Heroes of the Russo-Ukrainian War," and the Honorary Award "Star of Honor" (posthumously).

We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Serhiy is survived by his wife and daughter.
