Serhiy YAKOVLIEV
Serhiy Yakovlev was born in the village of Chervonyi Chaban in the Kherson region. He graduated from the Petrovsk General Education School and later from the Znamyanka Vocational Technical School No. 12, where he obtained the specialty of assistant locomotive driver. He worked as an assistant locomotive driver for an electric locomotive at the Znamyanka locomotive depot of the Odesa Railway.
In October 2023, Serhiy was mobilized. He served as the commander of a mortar section in the 1st Airborne Battalion.
49-year-old Senior Sergeant Serhiy Yakovlev was killed in action on January 16, 2025, during combat operations near the village of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
For his bravery displayed in battle, Serhiy Yakovlev was awarded the medal "Veteran of War - Combatant," as well as the honors "Golden Cross" and "Cross of Valor."
In his team, Serhiy was known as a professional in his field and a diligent worker. He was sociable in communication and respected among his colleagues.
Serhiy is survived by his wife, two daughters, father, brother, and sister. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
