Vitaliy Yushko
Vitaliy was born in Orikhiv. He dedicated 27 years of his life to the railway. In 1995, he began working as an electrical technician in the signaling and communication department, and later became the senior electromechanic of the Polohy signaling and communication distance. Vitaliy was a highly qualified worker, repeatedly recognized, including with a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
47-year-old Vitaliy Yushko was killed on July 9, 2023, during a shelling of the city of Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia. He died along with his civil partner, Olha Ochkash, while volunteering at a Resilience Point. That day, a guided aerial bomb claimed the lives of seven residents of Orikhiv.
Vitaliy's mother recalls that he was very attentive to people, had many friends, although he might have seemed reserved at first glance. Since the beginning of the war, he and Olha actively engaged in volunteering in their hometown. On that fateful day, an enemy FAB-1500 bomb hit a school where the Resilience Point was located. Vitaliy died as a result of the bomb's impact, which collapsed the basement where Olha and other volunteers were.
Vitaliy is survived by his 9-year-old son Artem and his mother Tamara Ivanivna.
The team of the Polohy signaling and communication distance of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bids farewell to Vitaliy Yushko with indescribable sorrow and deep respect. Glory and honor to the Hero!
