Volodymyr Dukhno
Volodymyr was born in the village of Smolyanka in the Chernihiv region. In 2006, he joined the protective afforestation distance as a 6th grade lumberjack in the production unit "Bakhmach Protective Afforestation Distance" of the regional branch "South-Western Railway." He dedicated 19 years of his life to the railway.
Volodymyr took up arms to defend the country on August 11, 2022. He served in the mechanized troops, where he was an example of bravery and dedication for his comrades. He valiantly defended his homeland and gave a worthy response to the occupiers.
Volodymyr was killed on August 13, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction. He was awarded the Minister of Defense of Ukraine's commendation for injuries "For the sacrifice of blood in the battles for the freedom of Ukraine" and received the "Combatant" medal.
Colleagues remember him as a calm, modest, and kind worker, as well as a skilled hunter and fisherman. During his short vacations, he found time to meet with friends—railway workers—and go fishing. He dreamed of catching a big fish, enjoying good weather, and having loyal company by his side.
Volodymyr is survived by his wife, mother, sisters, and son. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
The team at the Bakhmach Protective Afforestation Distance deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.
