Volodymyr Lykhovyd
Volodymyr Lykhovyd was born in the city of Synelnykove, Dnipropetrovsk region. He lived in the village of Starolozovatka in the same district. From grades 1 to 7, he studied at the Raiivka boarding school, and he completed the 8th grade in Starolozovatka.
During his military service, Volodymyr was a sniper, but after an injury, he was discharged. He worked as a tractor driver, and in September 2015, he began working on the railway as a track layer at the Illarionivka track machine station of the "Center for Track Construction and Repair." He worked on the railway for about 7 years.
On February 25, 2022, he joined the ranks of defenders of our homeland. He served as the chief sergeant of the first company of strike unmanned aerial systems in the battalion of unmanned systems, where he proved himself to be a true leader—responsible and disciplined. His experience helped him adapt to new conditions and become a support for his comrades. Volodymyr never hid behind others and remained faithful to his oath until his last breath.
48-year-old chief sergeant Volodymyr Lykhovyd was killed on April 23, 2025, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Zarichne in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region due to explosive injuries.
From childhood, Volodymyr was serious and responsible. He always loved everything military: weapons, playing "war." Even in class, he would get distracted and draw tanks, planes, and guns. However, he always listened to the teacher and could repeat everything that was said. He never shied away from any work. He was a calm, kind person, a loving son, a decent family man, and a responsible worker: he always skillfully completed assigned tasks and improved his professional level, paying attention to details. True balance, kind sincerity, and a desire to help—these traits made him special, his colleagues say. When it was time to act, Volodymyr proved himself to be a true defender—brave, unyielding, and loyal to his land.
During his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr was awarded:
The Golden Cross;
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine's award "Golden Trident";
The Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
He also held the status of a combatant.
The fallen defender is survived by his wife Olena and his parents.
The team at the Illarionivka track machine station deeply mourns the irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and Hero!
