Andriy Herashchenko
Andriy was born and lived in the city of Synelnykove, Dnipropetrovsk region. He dedicated 22 years of his life to the railway. Since 2003, he worked as a locksmith for emergency recovery (prior to that, he was a repair locksmith at the Lower Dniprovs'k locomotive depot). Colleagues remember him as a jack-of-all-trades who did everything with quality. In 2014, he was awarded a watch by the General Director of Ukrzaliznytsia.
On August 1, 2022, Andriy took up arms to defend his homeland. He served as a senior gunner in a grenade launcher unit. Two months after mobilization, he was wounded in the Bakhmut direction, but after recovering in the hospital, he returned to his comrades.
44-year-old Andriy Herashchenko was killed on January 11, 2023, near the village of Verkhnokamianske in the Donetsk region.
Andriy was a good family man, a caring father to his 19-year-old son, a compassionate son, brother, uncle, and a kind and cheerful person.
He is survived by his wife Yevheniya and son Oleksii.
The team of the locomotive depot and emergency recovery works of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns the memory of their colleague, Andriy Gerashchenko. His courage and dedication to his homeland will forever remain in our hearts. Eternal memory and glory to the defender!
