Oleksandr POPOV
Oleksandr Yakovlevych Popov, a crossing guard and loyal defender of Ukraine, died on January 29, 2026, while defending the sovereignty of our state. The life of the Hero was cut short during a combat mission in the vicinity of the village of Hrusivka in the Kryvorizhskyi district of Dnipropetrovsk region. He was 49 years old.
Oleksandr was born in the Saratskyi district of Odesa region. He began his career in the "iron family" in 2004, dedicating 21 years of diligent service to the railway.
Oleksandr rose from a track fitter to a crossing guard. Since 2019, he had been working at the Shabo station as part of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi track division.
Colleagues remember him as an exemplary, responsible, and disciplined worker.
Oleksandr was always an open, sincere, and smiling person. His kindness and willingness to help earned him deep respect within the team. He was someone you could always rely on.
On August 11, 2025, Oleksandr Yakovlevych joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He consciously chose the path of a warrior to protect his home and people from the aggressor. Throughout his service, he demonstrated resilience and dedication to the cause of defending his homeland, remaining true to his military oath until his last breath.
For Oleksandr, family was the highest value. Together with his wife, Tetiana, whom he married in 2002, he built a happy life and raised a worthy son.
Oleksandr is survived by his wife Tetiana and their adult son Maksym.
The team of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi track division of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of our colleague with profound sorrow and indescribable pain. Oleksandr Popov gave his life for the future of Ukraine, and his name will forever remain in the annals of our struggle for freedom.
