Mykola Demydenko

Локомотивне депо Львів – Захід
20.06.1980 – 09.02.2026

Mykola Ivanovych Demydenko, an experienced electric locomotive engineer and devoted defender of Ukraine, died on February 9, 2026. His life was cut short by an enemy missile strike in the city of Dnipro, where Mykola was carrying out an important logistical mission for the military. He was 45 years old.

Mykola was born on June 20, 1980, in the city of Stebnyk in Lviv Oblast. His life path was an example of loyalty to his chosen profession and a high sense of civic responsibility.

Mykola dedicated 21 years of his life to the railway. Starting as a locksmith and rising to the position of engineer, he became a true master of his craft.

He began working in October 2003 at the Lviv-West locomotive depot. He worked as a locksmith, later as an assistant engineer, and from 2017, he served as an electric locomotive engineer.

Mykola possessed a rare combination of traits: iron discipline and a wonderful sense of humor. He was the life of the party and at the same time a mentor, deeply respected by both young colleagues and experienced veterans of the depot.

In March 2025, Mykola Ivanovych joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Just as he had on the railway, he chose a role at the front that required precision and endurance.

He served in a motorized supply platoon providing food, supplies, and technical support for the logistics battalion.

Mykola ensured the "arteries" of the front, delivering everything necessary to his comrades. Unfortunately, while performing his duties in Dnipro, his life was tragically cut short by a missile strike.

For his loved ones, Mykola was a reliable support and an inexhaustible source of love. His death is an irreparable loss not only for the railway but also for the entire community of Stebnyk and Lviv.

The hero is survived by his mother, sister, and two children. His family will forever remember him as a loving father, caring son, and friend who never left anyone in need.

The team at the Lviv-West locomotive depot of the "Locomotive Company" expresses its deepest condolences to Mykola Demydenko's family. We have lost a top-class professional and a true hero who gave his life for a peaceful sky over Ukraine.

Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and defender!
