Andriy VASKIV
Andriy Vaskiv was born in Lviv. He consciously chose a career in railways—after studying at a lyceum, he enrolled in the Lviv Technical School of Railway Transport, and after serving in the communications troops, he continued on his professional path.
Since 2009, he worked on the railway as a station duty officer in Lviv.
With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Andriy exchanged his railway uniform for military attire. Defending his homeland from the occupiers, he initially carried out combat missions in the Kyiv region, and later in Donetsk.
Colleagues describe Andriy as diligent in his work, and in his free time, he enjoyed fishing and football. He was cheerful, decent, and extremely responsible. He took on great responsibility during the war, constantly risking his own life to save wounded comrades, whom he evacuated from the battlefield.
Andriy was killed on May 9, 2024, near the village of Makaryvka in Donetsk during the evacuation of his comrades. He was 47 years old.
Andriy is survived by his wife and son.
The team at the Lviv station expresses deep sorrow and condolences to Andriy Vaskiv's wife and son over this irreparable loss.
