Dmytro LAVRYNENKO
Dmytro Lavrynenko was born in the city of Fastiv, Kyiv region. He completed his education at Secondary School No. 9 there, continued his studies at KVPUZT No. 17, and later at the Kyiv Electromechanical Vocational College and the State University of Infrastructure and Technologies.
Dmytro continued his family's railway dynasty and worked for 32 years at Ukrzaliznytsia. He served as a train driver in the locomotive operation section of the Fastiv motor car depot of the regional branch "South-Western Railway".
On February 28, 2020, Dmytro was released for military service. He served as a master in the strike unmanned aerial vehicle section of the unmanned aerial vehicle platoon. He received a combatant certificate and was awarded the "Veteran of War" medal for his actions in the battles for Donetsk in the fall of 2023.
47-year-old Dmytro Lavrynenko was killed on July 24, 2024, while performing a combat mission as a result of an explosive device dropped from a UAV in the area of the village of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv region.
Colleagues remembered Dmytro as kind and communicative; he was always ready to lend a helping hand. Friends and colleagues respected and valued him as a qualified specialist and a strong-willed person who did not shy away from difficulties and did not bow his head in the face of adversity. Dmytro dreamed of the end of the war and a swift return home and to work. He was brave, courageous, and determined. He believed that he would fulfill his civic duty and that Ukraine would be a strong and free state.
Dmytro is survived by his wife Lyudmyla, who also works in the railway sector, and two sons.
The team at the Fastiv motor car depot deeply mourns and expresses sincere condolences to Dmytro Lavrynenko's wife, sons, family, and loved ones. We will forever cherish the memory of our colleague who defended Ukraine's independence. His sacrifice will not be in vain. Glory to the heroes!
