Leonid ASTAPOV
Leonid was born on November 27, 1971, in the city of Bakhmach, Chernihiv region. In June 1992, he joined the railway, working as a fourth-class train movement regulator at the Bakhmach-Passenger railway station, part of the "Konotop Directorate of Railway Transportation." He dedicated 30 years of his life to the railway. In 2019, for his diligent work, he was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Infrastructure.
On April 4, 2022, Leonid voluntarily joined the volunteer self-defense unit and later continued his honorable defense of the country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Leonid died a heroic death on September 10, 2022, during assault operations while carrying out a combat mission to defend Ukraine's independence in the vicinity of the village of Vesele in the Kharkiv region.
Colleagues remember Leonid as a sincere, diligent, and decent person, a hardworking and initiative-driven employee who earned deserved respect. He was also known as a skilled builder with "golden hands."
Leonid is survived by his wife and two sons.

A train movement regulator with 30 years of experience, who was a "man with golden hands" and an authority in the team, has fallen. His courage, patriotism, and dedication to Ukraine will remain an example for all. Eternal memory!
