Mykola Porfyriyev
Mykola was born as a twin, lost his parents at a young age, and was raised in an orphanage. He lived and worked in his native village of Lukavtsi in Chernivtsi region. From 2016 to 2018, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract and participated in combat operations in the ATO zone. In 2019, Mykola returned to civilian life, started working on the railway, and got married.
With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Mykola joined the territorial defense. He died a day before his firstborn son Yuriy turned 10 months old. His death occurred when Mykola descended into a deep ravine to shield a comrade from enemy fire, and at that moment, a bullet struck him directly in the heart. His brothers-in-arms remember him as fearless.
31-year-old Mykola Porfyriyev was killed on February 2, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the village of Nevske in the Svatove district of Luhansk region. He will forever remain 31 years old.
Friends and colleagues remember him as humane, polite, hardworking, who loved to farm and dreamed of creating a beautiful home for his family.
Mykola is survived by his wife Marina and son Yuriy.
The railway family of Chernivtsi deeply mourns this irreparable loss. He was a fearless, loving husband and father whose dream of a family home was cut short by war. Eternal memory to the Hero who defended his comrade!
