Oleksandr DON
Oleksandr was born in the city of Romny, Sumy region. In 1995, he joined the railway family, becoming a 7th grade operator of the flaw detection trolley at the Romny track maintenance unit. He dedicated 26 years of his life to the railways.
Colleagues remember him as a reliable friend, a true professional, and a responsible worker with a great sense of humor. He constantly shared his many years of experience with younger colleagues and was always ready to help. Even during short vacations, he met with his railway friends.
On March 8, 2022, at the very beginning of the full-scale war, Oleksandr took up arms to defend the country and bravely protected the borders from the occupiers.
Oleksandr, the flaw detection trolley operator, was killed on March 18, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk direction, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Oleksandr is survived by his wife, daughter, and mother.
The team at the Romny track maintenance unit of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in profound sorrow and deep respect for Oleksandr. His responsibility, professionalism, and sacred sacrifice will remain an everlasting light in our memory. Eternal memory and honor to our Hero!
