Oleksandr Kovalеnko
Oleksandr was born in the city of Fastiv. He received a railway education, graduating from a vocational school and the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport. For 23 years, he worked on the railway as a train driver at the Fastiv-1 motor car depot, training and preparing new personnel. In 2014, he was awarded the state honor "Honored Railway Worker" for preventing a railway disaster that hostile sabotage groups attempted to orchestrate.
Colleagues valued Oleksandr as a skilled professional worker and a strong-spirited person who was not afraid of challenges. He is remembered as kind, sociable, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He believed he would fulfill his civic duty and that Ukraine would become a strong and free state.
In the early days of the full-scale invasion, Oleksandr took up arms to defend his homeland. He was awarded the medals "Unbreakable Heroes of Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian War" and "For the Defense of the Native State."
41-year-old soldier Oleksandr Kovalenko was killed on October 15, 2023, in the city of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast.
Oleksandr is survived by his mother Yevheniya Stepanivna and his daughter Ksenia.
