Oleksandr MAIMUR

Olexandr signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2021, inspired by older friends and his stepfather. He served as a shooter and assistant grenade launcher. His military unit defended the southern borders. During the counteroffensive in Kherson, Olexandr was tasked with evacuating the wounded from the battlefield. During a massive enemy shelling, a shell hit their vehicle, and it caught fire.
20-year-old soldier Olexandr Maimur was killed on September 16, 2022, as a result of artillery shelling near the village of Pravdyne in the Kherson region. He left this world at just 20 years old.
His mother, Olha Mykolaivna, recalls that Olexandr never complained about the difficulties he faced and bravely fulfilled his duty. She is proud that he "gave everything for a free Ukraine and peace, sacrificing his life while still having so many plans and unfulfilled dreams."
Olexandr's body could only be buried a few months later, after the area was liberated and cleared of mines.
Olexandr is survived by his mother, two younger brothers, and two sisters.
The team at the Polohy Locomotive Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns with deep sorrow and pride the memory of their young colleague. A mechanic who volunteered for the military and died as a Hero-Savior. His courage, bravery, and unfulfilled dreams symbolize the sacrifice of the young generation of railway workers.
