Oleksandr Osypenko
Oleksandr was born in the city of Pomichna in the Kirovohrad region. His father, who worked for over twenty years on the railway, became a role model for his son. In 2007, Oleksandr began working on the railway as a motor car driver. In 2021, he graduated from Kharkiv College and dreamed of becoming a train instructor.
Colleagues and friends describe Oleksandr as friendly, always smiling, polite, calm, and accommodating. He cared for his seriously ill father until the very end.
In the very first month of the war, Oleksandr made the decision to defend his homeland. He served in intelligence as a drone operator. His wife, Nadiia, recalls his last words: “My dear, don’t worry, I won’t be in touch for the next few days – it’s an important mission.” He never returned from that mission.
32-year-old Oleksandr Osypenko died on July 13, 2022, when he detonated an enemy mine while carrying out a combat mission near the city of Izium in the Kharkiv region.
Oleksandr is survived by his daughter Kateryna and his wife Nadiia.
The railway team where Oleksandr Osypenko worked mourns the memory of their colleague with deep sorrow. This kind motor car driver, who dreamed of career advancement, volunteered to go to the front to become a drone operator in intelligence. His self-sacrifice during the “important mission” in Izium, where he was killed by a mine, will forever remain an example of courage and filial love for his homeland. Glory to the Hero!
