Oleksandr Sotnyk
Oleksandr was born on August 7, 1982, in the village of Yarova, Donetsk region. In 2000, he graduated from vocational school and immediately began working at the Krasnyi Lyman railway depot. He worked as an electric welder on automatic and semi-automatic machines of the 5th category in the wheelset repair section of the "Pokrovsk Railway Depot," where he served for nearly 20 years.
Oleksandr Leonidovych Sotnyk's life was tragically cut short on August 16, 2022, during shelling. Oleksandr went into the forest to gather firewood and, while returning home, came under fire, sustaining injuries that were incompatible with life.
Colleagues remember Oleksandr as a skilled worker with a strong character, which earned him respect within the team and made him a role model for younger colleagues.
Oleksandr was married and is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
The team at the Pokrovsk Railway Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns the loss of their colleague with profound sorrow. The electric welder with nearly 20 years of experience, who was a respected authority and example for young craftsmen, has fallen. His tragic life, cut short while on a peaceful mission for his family, serves as our eternal reproach to war. May he rest in peace and be honored.
