Pavlo KHMIL
Pavlo was born in the city of Khmilnyk in the Vinnytsia region and lived in the village of Adampil in the Khmelnytskyi region. For over 32 years, he worked on the railway in the Vinnytsia signaling and communication division, serving as a foreman for the maintenance of signaling, centralization, and blocking devices.
53-year-old Sergeant Pavlo Khmil, with the call sign "Owl," was killed on September 26, 2022, as a result of enemy shelling while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Vilshana in the Kharkiv region.
Colleagues remember him as a highly qualified, proactive worker and a good organizer who was respected by many. He dreamed of starting his own business in the agricultural sector.
On May 20, 2019, Pavlo was called up for military service under contract. He served as a commander of a combat vehicle and a mechanized platoon commander. He tried to pass on all his knowledge to the young soldiers and to save the life of each one. His words were: "We did not come here to be heroes; we came here to protect our land and return home alive."
Pavlo is survived by his wife Iryna and sons Bohdan and Nazar.
The team of the Vinnytsia signaling and communication division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors their colleague with deep respect. The foreman of signaling and communication with over 30 years of experience, who was a highly qualified specialist and mentor, has fallen. His wise words about the purpose of defense, dedication to his comrades, and bravery are our everlasting symbol of patriotism. Eternal glory to the Hero!
