Petro KOVBYSH
Petro was born in the village of Dovhopillya, Chernihiv region. In 2001, he began working on the railway. He served as a locksmith-plumber and a rolling stock repairman at the Synelnykove passenger car depot, and later at the locomotive depot in Nizhny Dniprovs'k Junction. He was passionate about football and loved animals.
On February 26, 2022, Petro voluntarily took up arms to defend his homeland. He served in the legendary 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar."
Senior Sergeant Petro Kovbysh, with the call sign "Hranit," was killed on March 7, 2024, during combat operations near the settlement of Terny in the Donetsk region. He would have turned 51 on March 30.
For his bravery and strong character, he was awarded the honorary badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Golden Cross" and the commendation of the command of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade of the II degree. He was wounded twice and returned to his unit each time after treatment.
His wife Tamara shared that during a recent mission, Petro sustained a severe injury that was incompatible with life.
