Petro TYKHONOV
Petro Tykhonov was born in Lviv Oblast but grew up in Lozivshchyna, Kharkiv Oblast, from the age of two. The boy was an orphan, raised by his aunt Kateryna Petrivna, who became like a mother to him. Petro loved his adoptive grandfather very much and was a wonderful brother. He studied at the Poltava Educational Complex and obtained a higher education at the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport, specializing as a "high-speed train engineer." He also studied to become a train conductor. He worked at Ukrzaliznytsia as a passenger car conductor at the Kharkiv-Sortuvalny Passenger Car Depot.
During the full-scale invasion by Russia, Petro volunteered for the Loziv Territorial Defense. From February 26, 2022, he was released for military service during mobilization in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He completed courses for drone pilots and served in the 113th Brigade.
22-year-old UAV operator Petro Tykhonov was killed on July 12, 2024, in Kharkiv Oblast as a result of a strike by an enemy FPV kamikaze drone.
For his bravery in defending his homeland, Petro was awarded the "Golden Cross" and the "Indomitable Heroes of the Russo-Ukrainian War" medal.
A week before his death, Petro was to get married.
The team at the Kharkiv-Sortuvalny Passenger Car Depot is deeply saddened by the news of Petro Tykhonov's death and extends heartfelt condolences to his family. Young, talented, and brave—he chose the path of a hero, not hiding behind armor, and gave his life for the right to live freely. We bow low to his heroism!
