Roman PATSAI
Roman was born in the city of Sambir, Lviv region. He worked as a track layer in the Sambir track section of the Lviv Railway.
The tragedy occurred when military personnel were loading equipment onto a train. The commander of the rigging platoon of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel, Roman Patsai, with the quick reaction of an experienced track worker, swiftly assessed the situation and, despite the deadly danger, rushed to save an injured man lying near the burning train. As a result of a subsequent missile strike, he suffered fatal blast injuries.
51-year-old Chief Sergeant Roman Patsai was killed on August 24, 2022, as a result of a missile strike on the Chaplyne station in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
His loved ones recall that Roman treated his men like sons, caring for and worrying about them.
Roman is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and granddaughter. He was buried in his hometown of Sambir.
The team of the Sambir track section of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows its head in sorrow before their colleague. His swift reaction, paternal care for his comrades, and selflessness serve as an eternal lesson in courage.
